September 9th 2008 Beers of the week

We have another great batch of beer this week for your drinking pleasure. New on tap is a great hoppy offering from Brooklyn's Six Point brewery, Hop Obama. I have been told that if Obama wins they will continue production. Let's hope for the sake of the country that Six Point is still brewing this come December. In bottles, the fall season is here and that means a pumpkin spiced beer, we chose upstate NY's Southern Tier's Pumpking ale. Sweet, delicious with slight hints of pumkin spice, not overbearing like many others out there. Here is the current list:

On Tap

Sixpoint “Hop Obama” Limited Ale (Brooklyn): In keeping with the Illinois senator's unifying theme, the "Hop Obama" is an indefinable ale that doesn't adhere to traditional style guidelines. Containing five kinds of malt and three kinds of hops and combined with a Scottish yeast strain, the result is a highly drinkable beer with a big malt background and an "Obama" of hops 5.2% abv
Harpoon Oktoberfest (Boston): Brewed in the traditional Marzen German style, this is a red, malty and smooth OKtoberfest that is certainly perfect for your fall session drinking! 5.2% abv
Rockies Brewing Co. Single Track (Colorodo): This Copper Ale is refreshing and full-flavored; a medium-bodied copper ale. Not too light, not too dark…it's just right. Perfectly balanced! 4.9% abv
Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA (Delaware): A session India Pale Ale brewed with 3 mystery hops and a lot of citrusy hop character. A winner of the American Beer festival. 6% abv
Magic Hat #9 (Vermont): A rather dry, crisp, fruity, refreshing, not quite pale ale that has been a staple of Vermont life for many moons, #9 will continue to win over new drinkers. Spicy food will taste even better with this brew! 4.6% abv
Blue Point Toasted Lager (Patchogue): A local favorite! Copper in color, this brew is made from 6 different malts. Well balanced and easy to drink, the “toasted” refers to the direct fire brew kettle’s hot flames that impart a toasted flavor. 6% abv
Keegan’s Mothers Milk (Kingston,NY): As the name implies, this is a dark and creamy milk stout. Hints of oatmeal, chocolate and of course milk, give this stout a remarkably smooth finish. 5.5% abv
Allagash White Beer (Maine): Our number one seller is a traditional Belgian wheat beer brewed with a generous portion of wheat and a special blend of spices, this beer is light and delicious! Pairs well with just about any sandwich! 5.5% abv
